I’ve committed to 365 Board Game plays in 2020. Here’s the update from June so far…

Like last year, I set a goal to play 365 board games in one year. This isn’t 365 plays of DIFFERENT board games (i.e. if I play checkers 3 times then it counts as 3 plays). I’m doing this to ensure that I play a lot of board games but also a breath of different board games. I also barely made my goal last year. So I know that 365 is a difficult (but attainable) challenge!

Protospiel Online Virtual Board Game Playtesting Convention July 17 – July 19, 2020

Protospiel is a network of playtesting events run at different times throughout the year in cities across the US. Protospiel Online brings the community together in a virtual setting to playtest remotely using Discord voice and video chat along with the designers’ chosen virtual board game platform. It is a welcoming environment where board game designers and playtesters get together for a weekend dedicated to playtesting board game prototypes. You can expect to participate in lots of helpful, honest feedback sessions with a community full of people focused on encouraging one another to create the best games possible.

Karl Kapp: Focus on the Learner

Ahead of the session, facilitated by Ryan Changcoco, senior manager for ATD's Management and Healthcare Communities of Practice, conference attendees were encouraged to listen to two on-demand sessions by Kapp: "Beyond Gamification: Think Like a Game Designer to Create Engaging, Meaningful Instruction" and "Microlearning-Short and Sweet: Making Microlearning Work in Your Organization." The latter was co-facilitated with Robyn DeFelice.
