Abstract

“This paper presented a learning support system to improve the distance learning process. The proposed system supported the difficulties of distance learning. One problem was that the learners and the teacher were not well-prepared using distance learning. A web-based system was designed to promote self-regulated learning (SRL) skills through the gamification technique created and developed. The main feature was the self-regulated learning reflective writing function, mentor's comment and feedback function, and feed function. The feed function allowed sharing of the learner's report. The teacher supported the learner by giving comments and feedbacks to the learners. The learners learned how to be self-regulated learners with other learners by observation and participation in the game. The gamification mechanism was designed to motivate the learners to learn SRL skills. Therefore, this study proposed a learning support system prototype for conceptualizing the educational concepts to support distance learning through reflective writing with gamification techniques.”
