Summary
Project Chimera, developed by TU Graz’s Game Lab Graz, is a gamified learning environment designed to teach complex scientific and technological concepts through interactive storytelling. Set in a damaged spaceship, players solve science-based puzzles—such as restoring an elevator by learning about batteries and electric motors—to progress. Funded by an Epic Mega Grant, the game encourages exploration and intrinsic motivation rather than direct instruction. Early use with mechanical engineering students showed increased motivation and engagement. Aimed at various age groups, Chimera aspires to match AAA game quality and is available in pre-alpha on Steam, though it currently requires high-end hardware.
