Summary

Games bring young people closer to computer science/unlp figures.

A team of researchers from the Faculty of Informatics of the National University of La Plata developed two educational games, one based on augmented reality, and the other on virtual reality, so that young people learn more about the great figures behind the development of technology.

One of the projects, called EmpodeAR, consists of a game based on augmented reality that proposes to publicize the contributions made by some of the women who were part of the history of Computer Science and science in general.

The other development, Innovatica, is a virtual reality game created to publicize the history of outstanding figures in Computing, based on mobile devices, aimed at young people recognizing them.

The Innovatica user should preferably play with virtual reality glasses to be immersed in the story.

Through the gyroscope in the mobile device used for the experience, it is possible to follow the movements that the player makes with his head. "Virtual reality has great potential to motivate and complement learning and teaching", highlighted Sanz.

The app is available on Google Play and offers a PC version.
