Summary
Powwow Bound: A Menominee Homecoming is a Menominee-created 3D interactive educational game that recreates the Woodland Bowl powwow in Keshena, centering Menominee language, culture, and family connections. Developed with community advisers and the College of Menominee Nation, it promotes cultural authenticity, language revitalization, and local media training. The project provides youth employment and digital skill-building while supporting accurate representation in classrooms through an educator guide. Beyond education, it strengthens cultural continuity, youth resilience, and community wellbeing. The initiative also underscores the need for sustained investment in tribal education, arts funding, and broadband access to ensure community-led digital storytelling continues to thrive.
