Abstract
"Learning a language has experienced a revolutionary change over the course of the last decades, shifting away from traditional classroom and textbook methods, toward the use of technological innovations that engage students in novel ways. One of these innovative approaches is the utilization of video games as an approach to the development of foreign language proficiency. Initially considered merely a form of entertainment, video games have shown tremendous potential as educational tools that can be applied across various disciplines, including language learning (Gee, 2003). As stated by Ekinci and Ekinci (2017), several researchers are of the opinion that the interactive and immersive nature of video games offers a fertile platform for authentic language practice that is driven by context."
