Summary
Teaching economics to students outside the field of economics can be challenging due to their limited prior knowledge of economic concepts, mathematics, and abstract reasoning. In response, the authors redesigned an Economics Applied to Tourism course at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) to better engage students from the Faculty of Gastronomy, Hospitality, and Tourism (GHOT). By integrating real-life scenarios, practical cases, role-playing, and serious games, they aimed to make economics more tangible and relevant. The approach emphasized student participation, engagement, and practical application of economic concepts, resulting in increased interest and better understanding of economic principles in the context of their future careers.
