Summary

A six-week collaborative project between University of Strathclyde staff and women from Royston used childhood memories of play to promote community learning. Led by Amanda Corrigan, the initiative helped women with negative school experiences build confidence by revisiting games from their youth. With support from Drs. Catriona Ellis and Cara Lamb, the women re-learned, adapted, and taught traditional street games to local children. Practical challenges, like game space and materials, were creatively addressed. The project culminated in a successful community play event, and the women continue to engage with the school, fostering joy, learning, and ownership in their shared educational journey.
