Summary

Researchers from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, in collaboration with partners in Ecuador and Spain, have developed a rehabilitation system using video games—“Peter Jumper” and “Andromeda”—to aid hand and wrist mobility recovery. These exergames, built on Unity and supported by a custom device called “eJamar,” track motion, grip strength, and recovery data. Designed to boost patient motivation and treatment effectiveness, the system has shown promising results, with some patients improving grip strength and motion by up to 100%. It is suitable for various conditions and offers potential for telerehabilitation, reducing treatment delays and improving clinical accessibility.
