Summary

The University of South Australia is revolutionizing construction education through SiteSeer, a gamified virtual learning environment that allows students to explore construction sites digitally. Developed to overcome logistical, safety, and accessibility issues associated with physical site visits, SiteSeer builds on the earlier OnSite platform launched in 2015. The 2024 version features over 70 construction phases in a realistic 3D environment, helping first-year architecture and construction students connect theory to practice. By simulating the building process—from site setup to roof framing—SiteSeer mirrors real-world apprenticeships, providing foundational, immersive learning and expanding educational access in an increasingly digital world.
