Summary
Out of Words is a handcrafted stop-motion adventure game built from clay, fabric, and glue. Inspired by The Neverhood, director Johan Oettinger blends filmmaking and animation techniques with Unreal Engine using custom scanners, photogrammetry, and puppet-animated cutscenes. The game follows Kurt and Karla, teens navigating the fragile moment of first love, with their inner emotional journey represented through a surreal clay world. Designed as a two-player co-op experience, its challenges and puzzles reflect trust, connection, and shared discovery. Rather than focusing on combat, the game emphasizes the profound adventure of expressing love for the first time—an experience meant to be unforgettable.
