Summary

Idaho State University is developing Lit-VR, a virtual reality “serious game” that lets students explore 17th-century London to study classic authors like Austen, Dickens, and Shakespeare. Created by ISU’s Computer Science and English departments, the game blends immersive gameplay with educational goals. Players visit landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, Shakespeare’s Globe, and London Bridge to learn about English literature’s historical and cultural contexts. The project aims to deepen literary understanding through interactive exploration. Led by professors Farjana Eishita and Curtis Whitaker, and student Reece Foulkrod, the team plans to complete a working prototype by spring 2026.
