Summary
In Shkodër, Albania, many young people feel powerless and disengaged from civic life, believing they can’t influence change. This mindset began to shift for the author during an internship at GO2 Albania, where they learned about civic rights and the importance of youth participation. With friends, they created Gamifying Shkodra, a board game that teaches urban planning and civic engagement through play. Over 300 youth have since participated, gaining confidence and tools to advocate for their city. The project sparked a cultural shift, showing that meaningful change can start small – even with a game – when young people realize their voices truly matter.
