Summary

A new educational video game developed by Bloodvein First Nation and Logics Academy immerses students in the Anishinaabe way of life, featuring sled dog rides and moose hunting while exploring land stewardship. Based on Pimachiowin Aki, Canada’s first dual world heritage site, the game educates students in grades 6-8 about biodiversity and traditional land management. Players engage in missions like ice fishing and identifying local fish species. The project, costing $57,000, uses Minecraft Education to spark interest in real-life land activities and instill pride in Bloodvein youth, while introducing the world to this unique Manitoba community’s culture.
