Summary
Researchers at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, in collaboration with Ecuador and ASEPEYO hospitals, have developed exergames—Peter Jumper and Andromeda—to aid hand and wrist rehabilitation. Built using Unity and paired with a device called eJamar, the system tracks motion, grip strength, and recovery metrics. Designed to motivate patients through engaging arcade-style gameplay, the system shows promising results, improving motion and strength by up to 100% when combined with traditional therapy. Approved by medical professionals, it suits conditions like fractures and neurological diseases and offers potential for telerehabilitation, helping reduce wait times for therapy access.
