Summary

Board games offer a powerful antidote to digital isolation by fostering face-to-face connection, laughter, and lasting relationships. Laura Schneider, founder of Meeples Games in Seattle, created a space for people to gather, play, and build community. Meeples has even sparked marriages and friendships. Beyond Meeples, places like Western Washington University’s Board Game Club and Dungeons & Dragons groups provide structured, social environments where meaningful bonds form. Board games offer more than entertainment—they encourage shared experiences, build empathy, and promote genuine human interaction. As Schneider says, playing games is deeply human, and embracing them helps us reconnect with each other.
